Stephen Rendall
General Psychologist
Melbourne CBD & online
I am a warm, thoughtful, and down-to-earth psychologist who values genuine human connection at the centre of therapy. With over ten years’ experience, I am passionate about supporting people to overcome personal barriers, work toward meaningful goals, and build a sense of wellbeing that feels sustainable and authentic to them.
People often describe me as calm, approachable, and easy to talk to. I strive to create an enriched and supportive environment in sessions where clients feel heard, understood, and accepted. I take a collaborative approach to therapy, working alongside you rather than telling you what to do, while also incorporating practical, evidence based strategies that support positive change beyond the consultation room.
My background includes extensive work in elite sport and high performance environments, supporting individuals with both performance challenges and mental health difficulties. I have worked across multiple AFL clubs and am currently the psychologist for the Carlton Football Club. Alongside this, I have experience in private practice, working with adults and adolescents across a broad range of mental health concerns.
Alongside my current registration as a psychologist, I am completing an additional master’s degree in clinical psychology. My work is informed by a strong understanding of neuroscience and how the brain responds to stress, emotion, learning, and change, and I aim to help clients understand these processes in a clear and practical way. I primarily draw on evidence-based approaches including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), tailoring these to suit each individual rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.
I believe meaningful change happens when people feel genuinely supported, while also being gently challenged when helpful. I balance empathy with honesty, reflection with practical action, and always aim to work at a pace that feels right for you. Above all, I value trust, respect, and authenticity in the therapeutic relationship, and my hope is that you leave sessions feeling clearer, more grounded, and more confident in your ability to navigate life’s challenges — both now and into the future.
